Aunika Miller
Three fun facts:
- I’m from Bandon, Oregon!
- I can recite all of the presidents of the United States.
- I have run an ultramarathon trail race.
My favorite part of Steens is usually the skits—they are so fun to watch. The coffee cake on Olympic day, and of course, Big Day! It’s amazing to watch people push their bodies to places they never thought they could go!
Danielle McLain
Three fun facts:
- I’m majoring in Biomedical Sciences at Western Washington University.
- I’ve been running for 10 years!
- I’ve only ever lived in cities that start with a B!
My favorite part of Steens is definitely the grit of Big Day—watching everyone work so hard to achieve such a big task is so cool!
Trevor Nichols
Three fun facts:
- I am pursuing a degree in Molecular Biology with a concentration in pre-dentistry, as well as minors in psychology and chemistry.
- I was a 4-year Steens camper.
- I am a 3x intramural pickleball champion, playing duos with Grady Greenwood.
My favorite part about camp, as a camper, was meeting new people and being away from my phone and media drama. As a counselor, I’ve learned to enjoy being a mentor and watching my campers mature, gather valuable skills, and create bonds that last a lifetime.
Creed Bodily
Three fun facts:
- I’m a licensed climbing instructor and outdoor recreation guide, so I do a lot of rock climbing.
- I had the opportunity to present my research in foot morphology at the Northwest American College of Sports Medicine conference as a first author this spring.
- I just got a canopy for my truck, so I have a lot of car camping planned.
My favorite part about camp will always be the Basque dinner. The music and dancing have such a unique energy.

- I have 5 sisters.
- I have dual citizenship in both America and Mexico.
- I have won 3 state titles in Oregon 4A a cappella.
My favorite part about camp is becoming friends with people I compete against from different teams.

- I’m asked if I am twins with my sister, who is six years younger.
- I am known on my college team for asking extremely random questions with no context.
- I can only do the worm backwards.
My favorite part about camp is watching everyone become more unguarded and playful as time goes on, and watching each tent come together as a team over the course of the week.

- My favorite movie is Surfs Up.
- I have lived in 3 states.
My favorite part about camp is getting to experience all the fun activities and making new friends.

Three fun facts:
- I work at a running store in Boise called Bandanna!
- I love seeing live music. My favorite band is Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners!
- After college, I want to race triathlons!
My favorite part about camp is meeting people from other schools! I’ve formed so many friendships with people from our “rival schools” and met people from other states that I still say hi to at travel meets. The Steens community is everywhere and so connected.

- I went to Steens twice as a camper.
- I was the only member of my elementary school’s “75-miler” club.
My favorite part about camp is carrying my teammate out of the canyon during the cross-canyon race my first year at Steens.

- If I could only eat one fruit for the rest of my life, it would be green grapes.
- I prefer trails over road running even though it’s slower.
- I love to embroider cool designs on clothing.
My favorite part about camp is how the laughter and joy grow throughout the week as everyone meets new people and completes hard tasks together.

- My local coffee shop knows my order.
- My dad, brother, and I all have the same tattoo.
My favorite part about camp is Scooter’s famous crisp 😍

- Philosophy and Theology double major.
- Southern Oregon enthusiast.
- Detroit Tigers fan.
My favorite part about camp is watching groups of kind, motivated individuals arrive as strangers and leave inseparable—bound to every part of their tent. After years of only hearing about teamwork, Steens becomes the first place many of them truly live it and claim it as a real part of their lives.

- I’m learning to hacky sack.
- I love to fish.
- I’m great at getting lost.
My favorite part about camp is the transformation from a tent of campers to a group of friends.
Lily Nichols
Three fun facts:
- I’m going to Colorado Mesa to become a nurse.
- I’m the 4th Nichols to go to Steens.
- I love pickles with all of my heart.
My favorite part about camp is getting to be friends and be around your usual rivals or competitors.

- I raise shorthorn cattle in Willamette Valley, Oregon.
- I lovessss coffee.
- I am learning to play guitar.
My favorite part about camp is the last couple of nights around the campfires when everyone’s warmed up to each other, making friends, and then being so excited to see each other the next cross/track season at competitions.

- I live at a higher elevation than the Steens basecamp (Gunnison, CO, at about 7,700′).
- I’m one of three Cesars who have been Steens campers.
- I am an up and coming barber.
My favorite part about camp is tents working together on Cross Canyon Day.

- My favorite color is green.
- I ran a marathon at the end of my senior year of high school.
- I am minoring in art and design.
My favorite part about camp is when you get to the top of the hill during Big Day and get a lemon drop!

- I was raised in Vale, a short two hours away from the mountain.
- I have my scuba certification.
- My favorite fish is a Columbian redband trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss gairdneri).
My favorite part about camp is the beauty of the nature there, and how much you get to experience in just a short week.

- I have a sponsorship with a sports nutrition company.
- I enjoy fly fishing.
My favorite part about camp is Basque dinner.

- I can hold a headstand for at least 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
My favorite part about camp is cross canyon and the food!

- I have a twin brother.
- Strawberry Uncrustables are the superior flavor.
- I’m 0-2 against Max King in head-to-head races, but that changes this year.
My favorite part about camp is setting pit stop records at the campground bathrooms with Creed Bodily on Big Day!

My favorite part about camp is being up in the Steens Mountains, being part of something bigger, and seeing people push themselves in ways they never thought they could.

- I am a 3-time champion goat showman.
- I am a master crêpe maker.
My favorite part about camp is getting to be on the mountain itself; getting to run in places not many have experienced before. Getting to do that with some of your closest friends is a very special gift.
