We at Steens are in the final stretch to make sure you have a safe, fun, and rewarding Steens Camp experience!
To that end, the following information is provided for you.
Registration & End Of Camp Details
Registration Date, Time & Drop-Off Location
- Session 1 July 12 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm @ Burns Union High School
- Session 2 July 19 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm @ Burns Union High School
End of Camp Date, Time & Pick-Up Location
- For Campers Not Riding a Charter Bus Home
- Session 1 July 18 at 10:45 am Burns HS
- Session 2 July 25 at 10:45 am Burns HS
- For Campers riding a Charter Bus to Bend, Eugene, Portland see travel itinary
Transportation
- Private, Team or School Provided Transportation to Burns HS
- NO Private vehicles can be driven from Burns to Steens Camp. Campers driving their own vehicles will leave them in Burns
- Coaches with prearranged permission can drive to the Camp. Make sure to fill with fuel in Burns. There is NO fuel on The Mountain
- NEED A BUS RIDE to or from Burns HS? We offer Charter Buses from Eugene, Portland, or Bend. Seating is limited!Reserve your seat now!
- Campers who plan on providing their own private transportation to and from Burns don’t need to reserve a spot on the bus
- Note-2nd Session Boise Charter Bus times have been sent to families
- All Campers will have transportation provided to them for the entirety of both Sessions while at Camp
Registration & Payment of Camp Fees
- Campers will check-in (and pay any outstanding fees) on Sunday July 12 (Session One) OR Sunday July 19 (Session Two) from 1:30-3:15 PM at Burns High School
- Campers must report and register even if full payment has been made. SORRY NO BANK CARDS, we accept Checks or Cash Only at Burns check-in.
- Session 1 and 2 Fees
– $995 Individual Rate
– $945 Team Rate (5 or more from same school)
– $945 Family Rate (2 or more siblings from same family). - Your $150 deposit was applied toward your camp fee. Balance is due on Registration Day. Your current camp balance/invoice was emailed out in June
- You may be assessed or refunded $50.00 on registration day to reflect team/family/individual rate
Departure From Camp
- Buses will arrive off the Mountain to Burns HS around 10:30 AM on July 18 of Session 1 -or- July 25 of Session 2
- Parents or families wishing to pick up their Camper can do so around 10:45 AM at Burns HS
- Charter Bus Campers will depart Burns HS at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 18 of Session 1 -or- Saturday, July 25 of Session 2

Notes To Campers
- Training Rules – Possession and/or use of alcohol, other drugs or tobacco will not be tolerated. Violators will be immediately dismissed from camp and will forfeit their camp fee. Parents will be notified to pick up their son/daughter from camp or Burns
- In order to tune in to a beautiful, remote living environment, iPods/Cell Phones/Etc. we are Tech Free from pickup/dropoff at Burns HS

Notes to Parents
- Base Camp is located 78 miles from Burns and 15 miles from Frenchglen, Oregon near Lily Lake, approximately 12 1/4 miles up on the Steen’s N. Loop Road, and one mile prior to Fish Lake Campground.
- We are not permitting Campers to be on phones. We would like them to “tune-out” from the usual things for a week and “tune-in” to the Mountain Experience
- In case of emergencies and you must absolutely contact us during camp, please call/leave a voice mail message at 541-324-0674

- STEENS SWAP MEET- Bring a running/racing/school t-shirt to swap with fellow campers.The SMRC Museum will be on display with gear dating back to the 1970’s, 80’s, 90’s…Bring old vintage shoes, shirts, jerseys, sweat tops/bottoms, uniforms to trade with Coach Y for old school Camp Gear or Camp Tuition!
- Basque Dinner Nite. On Thursday Night we have an authentic Basque Dinner. Bring an outfit for the occasion if you wish…Campers & Staff have a long tradition of looking Sharp! In Our own way of course.
- Down Time. Cards, cribbage board, chess, journal, book, homemade cookies or treats for your tentmates, jerky, dried fruit, trail mix…card games are in abundance at Camp. To Coaches/Guests…bring your favorite Hot Sauce to share with fellow Staff Mates!
- There are many athletes from all over the US. It’s common to not “know anyone” and have a friend(s) for life after one week at Camp. “You can learn more about someone in an hour at a campfire than living next to them for a year.”
