A Steens Poem by Charlie Romans
Charlie Romans was our camp bus driver for 10 years during the early years of camp.This summer at the age of 94 he made the long trek from Kentucky to camp for a Steens homecoming. While at camp he read us a poem he wrote back in 1991.

Sam Lewis Wins USATF National Title
A BIG congrats to Sam Lewis (ex camper, counselor and now coach) on winning a USATF National Title today at the 2019 USATF National Trail Half Marathon Championships in Scranton, PA.
She ran 1:46:44 on wicked hard trail course. Sam pulled off this amazing performance after a year of going to grad school, coaching as a graduate assistant, and working to support herself, all while training to set up a race like this.

2019 Camp Shoes
NIKE AIR ZOOM TERRA KIGER 5
Session One and Session Two Steens Campers will be fitted with a brand new pair of Nike Trail Shoes upon arrival to Camp on July 14 and July 21.
Conquer the trails in the Nike Air Zoom Terra Kiger 5. Ultra-lightweight Flymesh joins Nike React foam for a smooth ride. A perforated upper helps keep moisture out, while a sticky rubber outsole gives multi-directional traction on a variety of surfaces.
A reminder to confirmed registered campers: if you haven’t sent your Nike Shoe Size to us, please do so by May 15. Please refer to the email you were sent to order your shoes. Remember these Nike Air Zoom Kiger Shoes will be given to you at Camp.

Nike Trail Shoes 2018
Steens Mt. Running Campers to receive complimentary pair of Nike Air Zoom Kigers.
Session One and Session Two Steens Campers will be fitted with a brand new pair of Nike Trail Shoes upon arrival to Camp on July 15 and July 22.
The Nike trail series running shoes, (Kiger and Wildhorse) are named after the Kiger Gorge and Wildhorse Lake, both found on the Steens Mountain.
